Bill Clarke

Director

Dr. Clarke has been a member of HAPO since 2000. He has served on the Board of Directors since 2007.

At the end of a twenty-year career as a military medical officer in the US Navy and then the US AirForce, he retired as a colonel from the Air Force in 1989. Work in occupational medicine took him to multiple locations in the United States before settling in Richland Washington in 2000.

Dr. Clarke received his B.A. degree in biology from the University of Michigan and his M.D. from U.C.L.A. He holds a J.D. from the University of Richmond, an M.A. in international relations from the University of Southern California and a MTMH degree in Tropical Public Health from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. He has also studied business at the undergraduate level at the University of North Dakota and at the graduate level at Saginaw Valley State University.

Dr. Clarke's book East of the Cascades, A Photographic Journey, was published in 2024. He remains dedicated to recording the beauty of the land wherever he travels, be that in Washington and Oregon or elsewhere.
