Skip a Payment
We’re excited to announce we now offer HAPO members the opportunity to Skip-A-Payment year-round. Our program allows you to skip any of your qualifying loan payments twice during a twelve-month period*. This will provide you with more flexibility,
allowing you to decide when you want to Skip-A-Payment.
- Apply Here
- Apply at any of our 20 locations
- Call in your request to: 509-943-5676 / 800-284-4276
The most efficient Skip-A-Payment option is to login to Online Banking at www.hapo.org and click the Skip-A-Payment banner to submit your request. A fee of $35.00 must be paid at the time of processing your Skip-A-Payment request. The fee can be paid
when submitting your request through online banking or the HAPO website from your account, debit card or credit card.
* Once a Skip-A-Payment is submitted, allow up to 3 business days for it to be processed. If you have established automatic payments through bill pay or a similar payment service with HAPO or another institution, you may need to make modifications so the payment does not pull for the month skipped. Contact HAPO if you have any questions regarding your automatic payments. One month per loan may be selected; fee must be paid prior to processing your Skip-A-Payment request.
Deferment of this payment will extend the life of your loan and may cause an increase in the final payment amount. Interest will continue to accrue on your loan. Each skip payment processed through the term of your loan will extend the maturity date by one month for each skip payment. Advancing the loan due date may affect the eligibility of a GAP claim. We are prohibited from offering a skip payment option for Real Estate loans, Unsecured Loans, or Visas. Loans that are less than five months old are not eligible to skip a payment. Deferment of a loan payment has a limitation of two per rolling twelve-month period. A minimum of two payments must be paid between skips. If you have multiple loans, some of them may not qualify. Loans and all accounts at the Credit Union must be in good standing at the time of redemption in order to qualify a payment to be skipped. All skip payments are subject to review.
