Steven Dean

Director

Steven Dean has been a HAPO member since 2020. He served on the Audit Committee from 2023 to 2025, and joined the Board of Directors on January 1, 2025.

He served in the United States Marine Corps for eight years, graduating from Marine Corps Recruit Training as a Private First Class and leaving uniformed service as a Captain. 

After leaving active duty, Mr. Dean entered on duty as a Special Agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Over a 25 year career, he participated in many large scale investigations and undercover operations targeting various Violent Crimes, Public Corruption, and Terrorism, among many other violations.  Mr. Dean retired as the Assistant Special Agent-in-Charge of the Seattle Field Office, which encompasses the entire State of Washington.

After retiring from the FBI, Mr. Dean served as the Director of Security for Costco Wholesale for six years.

Mr. Dean has been involved with the following associations: Habitat for Humanity, FBI National Academy Associates, Society of Former Agents of the FBI, Retail Industry Leaders Association.

Mr. Dean received numerous FBI incentive and cash awards for sustained exceptional service and for recognition on many innovative Gang, Violent Crimes, and Public Corruption Investigations.

Mr. Dean earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from San Francisco State University and a Master of Public Administration (MPA) from the University of Washington.
