Q: What is a Round-Up Savings?
A: Members enrolled in Round-Up Savings will have purchases made with their HAPO VISA® Debit card rounded up to the next dollar. The difference in the purchase will be deposited to your HAPO Savings, Sub-Savings or
Money Market account within the same account.
Q: What types of transactions will prompt a Round-Up transfer?
A: Transaction conducted using HAPO’s VISA Debit card including Point of Sale (POS) and PIN based purchases.
All HAPO VISA Debit cards associated to the checking account will be enrolled in the Round-up Savings program.
Q: Is there a fee?
A: There is no fee for HAPO’s Round-Up Savings program.
Q: What are the requirements?
A: Complete HAPO’s Round-Up Savings Program Authorization form, enroll in e-statements and make purchases with your HAPO VISA Debit Card.
Q: What accounts are eligible?
A: The Round-Up Savings program is eligible on consumer checking accounts. Business accounts are not eligible.
Q: When does the Round-Up transfer happen?
A: Round-Up amounts will accumulate for one batch transfer to your savings/money market account per day at 11:00pm each night.
Transactions posted after 11:00pm will post in the following day’s Round-Up transfer.
Q: Who can enroll in HAPO’s Round-Up Savings Program?
A: Any account owner may enroll your HAPO Checking account in HAPO’s Round-Up Savings program. The account owner must complete the Round-up Savings Program Authorization form, enroll in e-statements and make purchases with your
HAPO VISA Debit Card.
Q: How do I sign up?
A: You may sign up in person at any Financial Center or over the Phone with a Member Connection Specialist. Our Member Connection Specialist will send you the Round-up Savings Program Authorization form via DocuSign®. A valid
email address must be on file.
Q: What if there is not enough in my account?
A: If your available balance is zero or negative, the Round-up Savings transfer is not attempted. Otherwise, if the calculated Round-Up transfer amount is greater than the available balance, only the available balance is transferred.
All transactions posting to your checking account are subject to availability.
Q: Can the Round-Up go to a different Account?
A: The Round-Up amount will be deposited to the Savings, Sub-Savings or Money Market within the same member number.
Q: What if the transaction is an even dollar amount?
A: Even dollar transactions will Round-Up another dollar.
Example: $30 purchase will Round-Up to $31
Q: If I pay at the pump or add a tip at a restaurant, what will the Round-up transfer be?
A: The Round-Up transfer amount will be based on the amount posted to your account.
Example: Your bill at a restaurant comes out to $30.10. This amount is preauthorized on your HAPO VISA Debit card. You add a $5.90 tip for an even $36.00. When the transaction posts to your checking account, the Round-Up transfer will be $1.00 based on
the $36.00 transaction post.
Q: Will ATM withdrawals Round-Up?
A: No, ATM transactions will not initiate a Round-Up Savings transfer.
Q: Will my international transactions Round-Up?
A: International purchases conducted as a Point of Sale (POS) or PIN based purchases will participate in Round-Up Savings transfers.
International withdrawals at an ATM and the International Exchange Fee will not initiate a Round-Up Savings transfer.
Q: Why doesn’t my Netflix transaction Round-Up?
A: Recurring transactions authorized on a HAPO VISA Debit Card, such as Netflix, are coded as a Bill Payment by the merchant. Transactions coded as a Bill Payment will not initiate a Round-Up Savings transfer.
Q: What other transactions are not eligible for Round-Up?
A: Deposits, ACH withdrawals and checks clearing transactions will not participate in Round-Up transfers.
Only Point of Sale (POS) and PIN based purchases using the HAPO’s VISA Debit cards associated with the checking account will initiate Round-Up transfers.
Q: What if my debit card is replaced?
A: When a checking account is enrolled for Round-Up Savings transfers, all HAPO VISA debit cards associated with the checking account are also be enrolled.
If a card is replaced due to worn, fraud, lost or stolen, the transactions on the new HAPO VISA Debit Card are automatically enrolled in the Round-Up Savings program.
Q: What if I close my Sub-Savings or Money Market?
A: Closing the designated Sub-Savings or Money Market account will cancel your enrollment in HAPO’s Round-Up Savings program.
Q: How do I update the Savings account associated with my Round-Up Savings transfer?
A: To update the Savings, Sub-Savings or Money Market account receiving the Round-Up Savings deposit, visit any HAPO location or contact HAPO via phone, Chat or Secure Message to have your Round-Up Savings Authorization updated.
Q: What if I open a new checking account?
A: All checking accounts must be individually enrolled in the Round-Up Savings program.
To enroll a new checking account, complete the HAPO’s Round-up Savings Program Authorization form, enroll the new account in e-statements and make purchases with your HAPO VISA Debit Card.
Q: What if I add a joint owner to my account that is enrolled in HAPO’s Round-Up Savings program?
A: All HAPO VISA Debit cards associated to the checking account will be enrolled in the Round-Up Savings program. Transactions on each account owners HAPO VISA Debit Card will participate in the Round-Up Savings program.
Q: What if I remove a joint owner from my account?
A: When a joint owner is removed from an account that is enrolled in HAPO’s Round-Up Savings program, HAPO may request an updated Round-Up Savings Authorization form.
Q: What if a transaction is disputed or refunded?
A: If your HAPO VISA Debit Card purchase is disputed, refunded, or reversed, the corresponding Round-Up transfer will not be corrected.
Q: How soon will a Round-Up Savings transfer occur after I enroll?
A: Upon completion of your enrollment, your HAPO VISA Debit card transactions will immediately begin participating in HAPO’s Round-Up Savings program.
If there are any pending transactions at the time of enrollment, those transactions will initiate a Round-Up Savings transfer.
Q: Can I cancel my participation in HAPO’s Round-Up Savings Program?
A: You may opt out at any time by providing the Credit Union notice. You may do so in person at any Financial Center, by mail or over the Phone with a Member Connection Specialist. You agree that your authorization for this service
may remain in effect up to 10 (ten) days after written notice of termination is actually received by the Credit Union.
